Description:
Primary Responsibilities -
- Ensure integrity of the sources / deliverables.
- This is achieved by comparison of the source modified with the previous version of the source and confirming that all the changes done to the source are properly identified with the necessary tags / developer.
- By also verifying that the build of the software is done as per the procedure.
- SCM tools features for efficient configuration management & build activities.
- Provide guidance to development & QA teams to support different development methodologies in the areas of SCM.
- Review and provide inputs to the Project Manager / Senior Managers to approve and confirm the project configuration and build management plan.
SCM Process -
- Should define SCM best practices and should be a key driver of the same.
- Should write SCM plan and have good understanding of configuration management process (Configuration Identification, Control, Status Accounting and Audit Reporting.)
- Should understand the agile workflow and SDLC life-cycle.
- Version Control System Administration -
- Team Foundation Server, Subversion, ClearCase, CM Synergy, VSS and Perforce (Should have strong understanding of one of them)
Build Management -
- Should have strong scripting knowledge of one of the scripting tools like MSBuild, Perl, Shell, Batch or Python.
- Should have strong knowledge of build tools like ant, nant, make, and maven.
- Should have designed the build workflow and have strong understanding of the same.
Continuous Integration -
- Should have strong understanding of the Continuous Integration Process and the workflow.
- Should have worked with CI tools like TFSBuild, Jenkins, Team City, and Cruise Control.
Interpersonal Skills -
- Very good communication skill.
- Should be a strong team player.
